XV. International Agriculture Symposium”AGROSYM 2024″

At the XV. International Agricultural Symposium AGROSYM 2024, an abstract entitled Biochar-Mediated Remediation of Metal-Contaminated Soils: Impact on Cadmium, Zinc & Lead Mobility was presented by authors Gabrijel Ondrašek, Jonti Shepherd, and Jelena Horvatinec.

The research highlights that the remediation of metal-contaminated soils using specific types of biochar can significantly reduce the transfer of harmful metals such as cadmium, zinc, and lead from contaminated soil into food production and water systems. This approach facilitates both chemical amelioration and bioremediation of ecosystems, whether natural or artificial, that are globally impacted by heavy metal contamination.

This study is part of the Was2Grow project, which focuses on developing innovative solutions for sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.
