At the “Hrvatsko povrće” conference, held in Varaždin from 10 to 12 December 2025, Prof. Dr. Sc. Gabrijel Ondrašek delivered a presentation entitled “Development of Waste-Based Hydroponic Substrates in Vegetable Production.” The presentation outlined the objectives and current results of the Was2Grow project, which focuses on developing innovative substrates that enable more efficient and sustainable vegetable production through the use of resources derived from bio-waste. Key points included opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce environmental impacts, and create added value through new materials and processes, with a particular emphasis on the practical application of the developed solutions in vegetable production and their contribution to more stable and resilient production systems.
