As part of the Science Festival, held from May 5 to 10, 2025, at the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum in Zagreb, Prof. Gabrijel Ondrašek, PhD and Jelena Horvatinec, PhD presented the latest research findings from the Was2Grow project.
During the educational workshop titled “Innovative Bio-Waste-Based Substrates”, visitors had the opportunity to learn about sustainable solutions derived from compost, wood biomass, and agricultural by-products. The workshop highlighted the advantages and broad application potential of these innovative substrates in horticulture, urban greening, and modern agriculture, where they serve as environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional peat-based substrates.
With a practical and informative approach, the workshop emphasized the importance of developing and improving bio-waste-based substrates as a way to reduce environmental impact and promote the principles of a circular economy. The event also contributed to science popularization and raising awareness about sustainable resource management.
